We summarize Cotton, PC and CVC price trends for the past month

As Pakistan's only company working on Data for the textile industry, and more specifically, for the Yarn market we'll be sharing with you how the market looked like in May. Sutarmandi has a long list of suppliers onboarded on the platform who provide their Yarn rates and we are able to break down the data to get an idea of how the market fluctuated and what affect that had overall.

Cotton: We will take the most running Yarn counts in the Pure Cotton and Ring Spun category.

Summary: 20s and 30s were the most uploaded rates, which can lead us to assume that they are the most in demand counts. They were averaging out at 3,625 and 3,985 respectively. Prices remained relatively stable with a minor change range of 1.2 to -1.6% across all suppliers.

 

PC: For PC, we will be taking rates of 52:48 ratios in the Carded and Ring Spun category.

Summary: 24s and 31s PC remained the most in demand counts with the highest number of rates offered. They were averaging out at 2,960 to 3,100 respectively. Price remained stable with slight increase and decrease of 2%, but that was just by a couple of suppliers.

 

CVC: Finally, we will be taking CVC 60:40 ratios in the Carded Ring Spun category.

Summary: 20s and 30s CVC were the most uploaded rates, averaging out at 3,080 and 3,340 respectively. Market remained very stable, with a maximum increase of just 0.7% for the whole month.

How does this help Procurement teams?

Before we get into that, its important to mention here that the rates offered by the suppliers have a margin for negotiation depending on the nature of the inquiry. We will assume that the rates uploaded by suppliers are final.

That being said, the first thing that Procurement professionals need to see is which rate they have been procuring at. If they are in the range of, or below, the average prices offered, this means that procurement efficiency was high. It also is important to evaluate suppliers, credit terms, compare rates and quality of the Yarn. Using the data provided by Sutarmandi, Procurement teams can look at the past few months to forecast and plan to purchase for the remainder of the year.
